As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Kinabalu offers a unique and breathtaking natural experience. The standard Kinabalu climb via Timpohon usually takes 2 days and 1 night. The journey begins at Kinabalu Park HQ Timpohon Gate, where the Timpohon Gate ascend Gunung Kinabalu starts. You’ll traverse different vegetation zones from oak Oak and Chestnut to mossy and eventually to alpine types of vegetation as you make your way to Panalaban, where you’ll have an early supper and rest before continuing the climb.
On the second day, you’ll ascend to Low’s Peak Summit, the highest point, in time for the sunrise, a major tour highlight (tour highlights). The Low’s Peak Summit is the ultimate goal of the climb adventure, and after reaching it, you’ll descend Mount Kinabalu Kota to the HQ Timpohon Gate.
But, before going back to Kota Kinabalu, don’t forget to collect your certificate.
The journey takes approx 6-8 hours depending on your pace and own preferred timing. After the descent, a private transfer will be waiting at the pre-determined pickup time, ready to take you back to Kota Kinabalu city centre, with a stop for a delicious buffet lunch.

Walking sticks and head torches can be rented or purchased from local stores in Kota Kinabalu, or at the Mount Kinabalu Park entrance area. Many climbers also bring their own gear.

To climb Mount Kinabalu, you need to wear sturdy, waterproof trekking shoes with good grip, especially for the slippery and rocky areas. For Via Ferrata activities, lightweight hiking shoes with excellent traction and ankle support are best.

This area offers easy access to various places, is near the airport, and close to shopping malls. Your hotel may store your luggage while you are on the mountain.
