DAY 1 – ARRIVAL LAHAD DATU / DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE / GUIDED NIGHT WALK

Recommended Flight: MH 3012 ETA LDU 0825 HRS

Pick-up from Lahad Datu Airport or Hotel by 08:30 hrs and proceed 2 ½ hours overland journey Danum Valley Conservation Area. Enjoy the changing landscapes of the regenerating forests to virgin rainforests of 130-million year old Borneo’s tropical rainforest!

Upon arrival, register at DVCA Reception & Information Building and check in after briefing by DVFC staff. Enjoy lunch provided at the Dining Hall. After lunch, have a chat with your nature guide to plan your days at DVFC.

Relax or take your power nap before going on a mid-afternoon walk around the centre as an introduction to the tropical rainforest. The area surrounding the centre is teeming with wildlife and it is not uncommon for you to spot resident orang utan, red leaf monkey, sambar deer, hornbills, and other species.

Return to the centre before sundown and enjoy dinner at 1900 hrs. After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk or opt for 4×4 night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife (if weather permits).

DAY 2 – DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE / GUIDED NIGHT WALK

Wake up early for morning nature and wildlife observation with your nature guide at 06:00 hrs to experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest as it has been for millions of years.

Return to the centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, embark on a trail in the area if you wish. Spend late morning unwinding before lunch.

After lunch, head off for another trek – there are various trails available for you to explore and your nature guide shall discuss this with you. Return to centre in late evening, just in time to watch the sky change colour as the daylight fades.

After dinner, venture into the forest on a guided night walk with your nature guide in search of nocturnal animals.

DAY 3 – DANUM VALLEY FIELD CENTRE / GUIDED NIGHT WALK

Spend another full day with your nature guide exploring the forest for another chance to spot wildlife and ample opportunities for bird watching. Wander along the various trails around the center or embark on a longer trail if you wish – our nature guide will have to determine your fitness level before engaging you on a long hike. Go back to center in late evening to freshen up before dinner. After dinner, nocturnal walk with your nature guide or arrange for an optional 4×4 night safari (optional at a fee).

DAY 4 – DANUM VALLEY / DEPARTURE LAHAD DATU

Recommended Flight: MH 3017 ETD LDU 1540 HRS / MH 3019 ETD LDU 1605 HRS

Wake up as early as 04:30 hrs for 4×4 drive to Bukit Atur and be among the first to greet the first ray of the sun as it touches the valley or rise at 0600 hrs for the final morning walk with your nature guide. (if weather permits).

Return to centre for your hearty breakfast and afterwards, rest or embark on a trail nearby the centre.

Pack your belongings for check out time at 11:30 hrs and depart DVFC for your onward travel to Lahad Datu.
